Definition: An act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else regarded as more important or worthy; an act of slaughtering an animal or person (self-sacrifice) or surrendering a possession as an offering to a deity.

God desires His children to wholeheartedly offer themselves to Him in the way they live. (Romans 12:1; Romans 14:8; Galatians 2:20)
